We were missing last week on our blog. Our family had a two year old birthday party, (for sweet Elsie Jane), followed by the very last week of summer school. All the bliss and bummer feelings it brings all intertwined together. The seasons and times of our lives all have great outcomes, but we are seldom ready when they take over.
Funny dad “Paul” noticed that Anna may have been trying to tell us something for years. I listened eagerly when he told me. Anna has been trying to tell us for years about her shoes. I said what? Paul continued, “She put her feet up on the table like she always does while I was using the laptop.” Then he said he pushed them off and like a spring coil she just pushed them up again. Paul said, “I thought, is she trying to tell me to take off her shoes?” So he took them off. Anna curled her legs like pretzels and never put them back up.
I do agree I think that’s her telling us and we have not realized it. It’s the simple things like this when we are trying to live with our special children that we might miss their commands. I don’t down myself or Paul for not picking up on it, I just know better now. Funny because I hate when she does this in a restaurant, but maybe now I may have the remedy!
On another note, I want to tell you that I just jumped in with the “Bad Guys” recently. What exactly do you mean Warrior Mom you ask? We were at Costco recently, in the peak of the madness, which is mostly all the time. There were no handicapped spots. We circled around, we waited. There were not “two empty spaces” that we require for Anna’s lift. We literally could not park. This is the most busy and manic-like parking lot of any store you will visit. I pondered my options. Then I became the mama bear and I thought, everybody else does it, so I am going to also. I quickly instructed Paul to “Park on the blue lines!” He said, “Really?” Yes, I have no choice, no other way to get inside as a family! He was a bit nervous. What if we get in trouble? I said then we’ll push Anna to them and tell them to ask her how it happened!
We shopped, we came out, nobody ever asked us and everybody is too fully aware of seeing Anna not to question our ramp and wheelchair. It worked out. I’ve never seen any police around the handicapped spots, although I’ve needed them myself. So I became one of the people I see breaking the rules, and I felt I had to. I mean this will happen once in a blue moon. This Warrior mom felt so empowered and full of smiles at maneuvering a little law breaking that was needed at the moment. Warrior Wisdom, let it shine on!
Thank you for Reading our Blog.

You learn something new everyday and that day it was about the shoes! Somehow I foresee lots more darling socks with patterns in Anna’s future! And you go girl! I always knew you had a bit of rebel in you… I’m glad it worked out because I definitely wouldn’t want any judge to have to face your wrath if you were taken to traffic court!
