This picture was my inspiration for this week’s blog. I have Anna with me. We are walking up at our cottage. They are long sweet picturesque dirt roads where I see horses, Amish homesteads, lots of cats, deer and homes that are immaculate or not so well kept. Funny how that disparity occurs in a more country setting. It’s a three mile walk and I stop to take this shot. Things are changing in the air and things change routine wise at our home.
As a Warrior mom we are responsible for all aspects of our child’s life. This means many things. What it means right now for me is I need to change summer and winter clothes for her, pull out the jackets for the cold and get her flannel sheets on her bed. This is yearly for her times two, mine and hers. I don’t have the room to keep all the clothes out all year. This year I “lost” her Halloween clothes and found a separate bin one week before Halloween. I guess I was over organized and last year instead of grouping them with the fall clothes I put them in a separate bin. The good news is I have already found the Christmas clothes! Yes, we have lots of clothes. I don’t have a walk-in closet. As many of you know there are so many medical things that her closets and shelves are used for all of those.
As I walked down this beautiful road I felt lucky to see such a vibrant color collage this year, the colors here in Michigan were brilliant. I am still relieved that my shoulder is all healed and I’m able to lift and move again. I think about the upcoming ice and snow and make sure to make room at home for inside workouts (that includes both time and space). We plan on roller skating again soon as well. There are fun things that are reserved for winter.
Winter is much more prep, and I think this is why so many people aren’t looking forward to it. And we as Warriors are already the “Prepping Masters.” But it’s just a matter of being mindful to be ready, get those items out and within reach. I put Anna’s hat in the same spot all winter, I have my gloves by the front door. I start to leave an additional ten minutes early for every event so I can heat a car, strap a huge bulky coat under wheelchair straps, get that coffee I left in the microwave instead of driving away and pining for it. With enough planning we Warriors can have a happy fall and all embrace winter joyfully!
Thank you for Reading our Blog. I was considering videos, but to be honest that’s a whole lot more time than I can make happen in our lives now. I read an interesting article that talked about reading blogs and how most people don’t want to read anymore. It was nice to hear someone worry about reading going away in light of all things video. I love AI, but I have not used it to help me write in any way, no offense to those who do I’m just sharing my passion which is writing and I don’t want to share it with AI. I appreciate all my readers and hope that you continue to master this art. Again thanks for reading and taking a small peek into our special world.
