Summer school is in full swing. The bus comes later and I’m leaning into my mornings. On days when Anna has no school (like tomorrow) I will have coffee outside with my dogs before the sun comes up. The nice weather is soothing my soul.
Anna’s new bus driver parks the bus diagonal. I’ve never seen this before. I’m not a fan of it but I hinted and it has not changed, so I go with it. What can I do? Part of being a Warrior means learning deeply that adaptation is necessary for survival.
So Tuesday I put Anna on the bus and I came inside. I’m ready to leave for work but I have just three dishes to clean quickly before I head out the door. I’m standing at my sink and I hear a loud honk. Like LOUD. Again, I hear it. That’s the bus! I drop my dishes and run to the door, is the bus driver signaling for me? Does Anna need something? Why is she honking? As I race to the front door I see before my eyes a pitiful sight. The bus is still angled. But there is a car trying to get around the bus and it is literally going to get hit if the bus moves. Yes, imagine a car wedged up against the curb on the other side of the bus because, hey, “Why wait for a bus?” If it’s loaded let’s try to pass it? Geez, people are beyond me. So I came back to the kitchen. Here comes groggy Paul. The horn woke him up. “What the heck is going on?” He says to me, I explain, he shakes his head and goes back to bed. Anyone that has ever heard a bus honk knows it is like five horns honking at once.
Later I get home and Paul says, “You’re not going to believe it.” I say, “What, another car tries to pass the bus?” He said no, but he asked the driver what was happening this morning and the driver said that the car passing the bus was actually a parent of one of the students! Jaw drop. I can’t say anymore because there are no words. . .

Ugh! As my mom used to say “if it’s not one thing, it’s your mother!”
