This is a true story.

I wake up because my Aussie mix is whining its 4:29 a.m..  I step around the bed, I place my first hand in cat vomit on the bedspread and proceed to step in another pile as I round the corner of the bed.  I hobble to the kitchen in search of paper towels to wipe my hand and foot.  I race to the back door to let dogs out.  I lay down for 25 more minutes until 5 am.

5 am. I wake and get Anna’s feeding pump ready.  I open her door.  The odor in the air tells me I have work to do.  I flip on the light. I stare at her.  She is covered in her #2 from diaper to neck.  (Warriors reading this can feel the scene).  She is on her side and the mess is facing me.  She is asleep.  I stand there.  I try to make a plan.  I cannot do anything until I make a plan.  I can’t turn her over or hook her up to the feeding tube because it’s a disaster.  As a Warrior we have these situations.  Simple tasks that turn into not so simple things. . . so I take a deep breath and get to work.  I use 18 wipes and do my best to get her as clean as a shower.  There’s no time to shower her, it took too much time to clean her. She has to eat by tube before boarding the bus.  I also get her up now she is obviously awake after the large scale cleanup required.

I go to my phone and I see that I have a text message at midnight from my sister. It is bad news on two accounts.  I try to keep moving because bad news or not, cleanup issues or not, the bus is coming at 6:25 and I must be ready.  I need to focus.  We live these lives of text messages that can pull your mind in a different direction, I have to concentrate.

After she’s on her way to school I tend to things as I usually do on my day off.  I get all kinds of things accomplished.  I call my sister. And then I contemplate yoga.  The easy way out is to stop trying, but I’m a Warrior to the core.

I’ve this new great idea.  Here it is:  I take Anna with me to yoga!  This didn’t come without great thought.  A room where quiet is required? She has to have her rattle, what if it bothers people?  Would they say anything . . .what if she starts crying? These are all things that go through the Warrior mind with many events.  At 24 years in the process I test my limits and hers.  We head to yoga.  This is the second time I take her.  The first time went well and as you can see from my morning I NEED YOGA.

I decide to get her a pass for the class too, after all she is there, she’s doing yoga the best she can, sitting in her chair and bending her legs.  Anna’s yoga, yes her own style.  The group is a senior class because the teacher is amazing.  The class is so accommodating that I’m in awe of the sweet nature of people.  We have a great class, I get the stretching I need, Anna enjoys the lights out and the music.  I love when I find groups of people who do not flinch at all when they see this sweet girl who wants to join in. It’s exhilarating to find a new thing to do with Anna.

And the best news of all, is my yoga teacher thanked me for coming?  Me?  I thanked the whole room for their support.  Life is Good. Yoga for dessert.
