You Must Have It All

I’ve learned over the years, and as my finances have allowed, that you must supply backup.  You must take care when you have a child like Anna to be ready.  You need two or three of everything.  In fact, getting things in threes is advised when you use them enough!  Make your life simpler.

I have two running strollers, two wheelchairs, two vehicles that can safely transport her, two people who can take care of her besides myself and Paul (thank you, Gabby and Eric), and two places she could sleep at our home.  Two feeding pump cords (keep one in the pump at all times), two pillows for one person in a bed (she soils the whole pillow at times), two favorite toys, two PCPs (one a specialist).  Two is the new number for us, Warrior moms.  Just go get two, make your life easy, make yourself and the person in need (Anna) portable.  It’s a must for our sanity. And now at this point I have many things in threes!

See, raising Anna already has so many needs, so many time-outs, why make it crazier?  Stock your life with the extras so that you can be extra happy, extra calm, and extra forgiving of all the wild times that come upon us out of nowhere.

And this month Anna turns 24!  I feel many hot, fresh feelings when her birthday comes around.  Triumph, wow, awe, pride, love, many feelings that could take up this page.  It has been a gift and a journey.  We are spending the day together.  Stay tuned.  Thursday, July 9th, Anna will be 24 years strong. . . .

  1. You taught me about preparation and being ready! You inspired me to have my ER bag with extra clothes, chargers, personal care items etc. ready and packed for those moments when going to Mott is required- and boy was that one of the best things I’ve done! Prepare for the worst and hope for the best!
